ANNUAL MEETING NOVEMBER 19
Our annual meeting will be held on November 19 at the Kilbourn Public Library at 7 PM, and we have an exciting agenda.
Protecting the River
First, members will meet the first landowner who wants to protect her riverfront property with help from the Stewards, the Natural Heritage Land Trust, and the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund. She will show images of her property, and you will learn how we can help.
Boat Safety
Second, you will hear a report about progress being made on the movement we began almost two years ago to improve boating safety in the Upper Dells, by slowing boat traffic.
Mission
Please think about our goals by reconsidering our mission statement: The mission of the Stewards of the Dells of the Wisconsin River is to preserve and protect the unique scenic, historic, geological, and archaeological features and ecological well-being of the Wisconsin River from Nine Eagles at the mouth of the Lemonweir River to the Rocky Islands of the Lower Dells and to promote good stewardship and responsible land and water use through education, advocacy, and coalition building.
We will report to you on how we have worked toward that mission in the past year, and brainstorm ideas for continuing our work in the coming year.
Election
We will also elect officers. The slate of officers recruited by our nominating committee is as follows:
President - Debbie Kinder
Vice president - Di England
Secretary - Arlene Kanno
Treasurer - Pat Andersen
Members at large: - Jim Hagen, Dave Simerson, Bob Spargo
Members who have paid current dues are eligible to vote at the meeting. If you are unable to attend, you may email your ballot to Mary Larson at mhl@jvlnet.com or snail mail it to her at 936 E. Hiawatha Drive, so that it arrives by November 19.
Holiday Potluck
Don't forget to contact Pat at 253-3455 before December 15 if you and guests plan to attend the Stewards' Holiday Party at the Andersen home on December 17. This will be our December meeting.
Hope to see you soon.
